Donations are always needed..
| As many of our friends out there can imagine operating a successful rescue organisation such as Best Friends is both very rewarding and very taxing at the same time .. We are a team of dedicated volunteers and are very proud to maintain a strict NO KILL policy. |

| We are passionate about the little lives we are entrusted with and will try to move move mountains to ensure their health and safety .. When a new home is found an adoption fee is charged; these funds are paid directly off vet bills .. Alot of the time, we have had to use our own resources to cover expenses, and though not one penny is begrudged, the pennies have run out .. To date we have received no government support or grants .. only the adoption fee .. and sometimes a donation. |

Here are some of our babies who needed extra help..
Eddy arrived in not such good shape .. he had a badly dislocated hip requiring immediate surgery .. This was performed by the good vets at Paddington Cat Practice .. and although discounted still cost Best Friends a hefty $1100.
Had you spent 5 mins with this lovable boy you'd have done exactly the same.

Beautiful Roxy came into our lives a depressed and broken soul .. She was 15 kilos overweight, unable to walk on her ruptured knee joint, with enormous patches of hair missing and desperately avoiding eye contact for fear of being beaten.
CoastVet on the Gold Coast helped us first with blood tests to ensure there was nothing else to worry about, took some x-rays of her knee, and sent us home to commence Roxy's weight loss program.
Two love filled and trust rebuilding months later our little princess was ready for surgery .. Her cruciate ligament was repaired and her new happy life was now well and truly underway .. Her bill came in at $1400 all told, only a small price to pay for the privilege of seeing her glow.

Once upon a time there was a little purebred American Staffy .. that we affectionately called Lil Dune Buggy .. She was full of life and love but born with a severely deformed cleft palate .. Two major operations already undergone to rectify the problem and we were full of hope for a bright future for this amazing little battler .. A third and final operation made way for this precious baby to find the home she had only ever dreamt of.

Blossom was suffering from skin cancer on both her ears .. A relatively simple procedure at CoastVet ensured Blossom was cancer free .. and in her new indoor only home she would be sure to go on staring lovingly into her best friend's eyes.

We have an awesome team of volunteers and we are always working on ways to rescue more of our beloved companions from an otherwise uncertain future .. We are very excited that we are now a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status meaning any donations we receive that are over $2 are fully tax deductible for you. |

THANK YOU SO MUCH to Captain John Whitehead .. Chief Engineer Ian Brightmore .. Chief Officer Jim Bayley and the Officers on the Kowulka of the CSR Shipping Company.
Their incredibly generous donation of $6,598.00 put a smile on many faces .. including our fabulous vet Fraser at Red Hill Vet Clinic as we were finally able to pay our outstanding balance of vet bills! Additionally we could finally purchase cat cages and traps for our stray cat desexing program, and veterinary supplies and bowls .. collars and leads etc for our kiddies (dogs and cats of course!).
Once again gentlemen .. we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and wish you all a happy and wonderful future.
